Hayden's Obession with Water!

Hayden's favorite time of the day (so it seems) is BATHTIME!!! Everytime we start that bath, you can hear Hayden barelling down the hallway on our fours, panting with a smile on his face! Once he arrives to the bathroom he stands at the bath tub watching the water, and of course saying "oh, oh, oh".  There are also other times where I catch him in the bathroom with the toilet seat up and him dipping his hand in the water! Do not worry we flush our toilet on a daily basis! =). We now close our bathroom door, and the toilet lid.

Hayden and his rubber ducky!

Uncle Randy and Hayden playning with a cup of water!

He was soaked by the time he was done!

and the theme is...

SESAME STREET!!! This is the theme that we chose for Hayden's 1st birthday party! At first I just wanted a generic theme, it was going to be blue and brown and nothinh fancy! BUT, when we went to party stuff, Adrian convinced me to do Sesame Street. When he decided this, I was totally aganist it and wanted nothing too do with it, but after a dicissusion on it, Adrian finally won! And now I am SO happy that we did it! Lately Hayden has been watching Sesame Street on Netflix, and he LOVES it, we put decals on his bedroom wall and every morning he looks at them and says "oh, oh, oh" and points to them, he has also been looking at his Sesame Street books as well! I now am getting more excited about his 1st party, at first I was more stressed about it, thinking that this will be his ONLY birthday party and it has to be grand! But, Lord willing this will not be his last, and there will be many more to plan! I cannot wait! We already bought his 1st birthday present! It is a fridge magnet toy! It is barn, and it comes with the alphabet and when you a put a letter into the door, it says what letter is, and what it stands for and etc. One of the boys from church has it, and when we go over there, he seems to always play with it! And we also got him these big alphabet blocks! Now, I am just planning on what we are going to eat and how I will decorate the cake! So far its a ton of fun!!

the joy's and blessing's of having a long weekend!

Our long weekend was so good for many reasons! My sister Jaime came out for the weekend, she was suppose to go to a youth retreat but fell at work so she had a mild concussion and she threw her back out. On Friday we just lounged around in the evening and watched movies and played with Hayden, Saturday we again did hardly anything! On Saturday evening we had our tradtion of having pizza and watching the hockey game. This week's pizza was TACO PIZZA!! It was so yummy!! It had refried beans, seasoned hamburger, onion's, peppers, lettuce, sourcream and salsa on it! I was actually impressed with how much I liked it, I ususally don't really like anything that has too do with Mexican food, but this I liked! Oh, and I added jalepeno's for Adrian!

On Sunday my parents suprised us by coming out for the night! It was so much fun! We ordered pizza and chicken, then we went to Adrian and Randy's (Jaime's Boyfriend) hockey game! We then came home set up our beds in the living room and watched Gullivers Travels! Such a blast, and it's a cute movie! And today, we went sledding down Perry's hill here in Arborg! We took Hayden with us, and he did NOT like it, he cried everytime we went down the hill, I guess it didn't help that we were screaming when we went down! Hayden seems to be very senstive when it comes to screaming or when it looks like someone is getting hurt. I know that there will be times when Adrian and I are play fighting and he'll start crying, or one time Randy pushed Jaime in the snow and Hayden freaked! So, lately we have been more senstive about his feelings. Anyways, back to the day. In the evening we went to the grocery store and picked up groceries for supper! We had bbq'd steak, chicken, potato salad, fettuchine alfredo ( thanks to Alyssa's reciepe), and buns, and for dessert coffee and strawberry cheesecake! It was so yummy! Today, I realized how bless I was to have the family I do, we have been through some crappy times but in the end we still love and forgive each other. I love them so much, and being 2 hours aways from them makes the time we do have together so much better and so precious!  Thank you God!

Oh, and this is the snowman I made for Hayden when he was napping! I'll introduce them tomorrow! :)

Lessons through pudding!

Yesterday I wanted to do something different with Hayden instead of going outside! We usually go outside for half an hour to an hour a day just to get some fresh air and get out of the house. Sometimes we go for a walk or we just play in the front yard! But yesterday I made chocolate pudding, and we did some some "finger painting" with it!! It was such a blast! At first when I put the pudding on Hayden's chair, he was not too sure what to do with it, he kinda just stared at it! Then I put some on my finger and let him suck it off , then he let loose and went nuts on it! He had it in his hair, on the wall, in his nose, in his ears, in mommy's hair, it was literally EVERYWHERE! If you know me you would know that I hate messes, I hate it when my house is messy and I hate it when things are unorganized! But yesterday as I watched him have so much fun I realized that is okay if the house is a mess and disorganized. I feel bad because there are some days where I could play with him but instead I put a movie on for him, and while he watches it I will wash the floor or clean something. I am not saying that I should never clean the house and play all the time, but what I am saying is take time for children, and it's okay if you don't get all the things done in a day! Children grow up so fast and before we know it they will off hanging out with friends and going to school! Cherish the messy times!

We will need to do this again!

Carrot cake!

Every year on Valentines Day, I make Adrian a heart shaped cake! Usually I make a chocolate one, but this year I wanted too do something different. I asked Adrian what kinda cake he wanted, and he wanted Carrot Cake, not having a carrot cake recipe I went onto Pinterest and found one!! It was so yummy! I decided to share the recipe. :) Enjoy!

Ingredients

Cake:
2c. sugar
1c. Oil
4 Beaten eggs
3c. grated carrots
2c. flour
1tsp. salt
2tsp. baking soda
2tsp. cinnamon
1/2c. coconut
1/2c. nuts (almonds)

Frosting:
2 8oz. packages of cream cheese, softened
1 cup of butter
5 cups of powdered sugar

Make It!

1. In a mixing bowl combine the sugar, oil and eggs. Mix for about 2 minutes.
2. Add the carrots, mix for 10 seconds to incorporate
3. In a separate bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. ( not the coconut, and nuts)
4. Slowly stir the dry ingredients into the wet ones.
5. Add the coconut and nuts.
6. Pour batter into 2 greased round or square 9 inch cake pans.
( this recipe doesn't work well in a 9x13 pan. The center has a hard time cooking and will be mushy and fall.)
7. Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
8. Cool cakes on wire rack.

Frosting

Beat the cream cheese and butter together in a mixing bowl, for about 2 mintues, if the frosting is too thick, you can add just a touch of hot water.

When the cakes are cool, frost, and enjoy!

My Next Project!

This is my next project...

I wanna make this for Hayden to help him learn his Alphabet! I know he isn't one yet, but I believe that learning is important no matter what age they are! I printed out the pattern, and will start this tomorrow! I hope it works out! I will have too keep you posted!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

I just love Valentines day!! Usually Valentines Day is spent with my hubby Adrian, but this year it was a little different!! It was Hayden's first Valentines Day and Adrian had the day off, so we packed up the car (which includes a stroller, 2 bags, and toys, its a 2 hour drive!) and went to Winnipeg!! The first stop of the day was the forks, we took Hayden to the Children's Mueseum! He loved it, Hayden has this thing that when he see's something really cool he says "Oh, Oh, Oh" you can imagine what we heard all day! After we went to the Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch/dinner, then we just walked around the Forks, it was such a BEAUTIFUL day! After we did a couple of errands and came home and relaxed and played with Hayden! We had such a good time, it was one of the best Valentines Day! I love you Adrian & Hayden. And Happy Valentines Day to all! :)

Hayden and daddy playing at the water station! There were little balls floating around and Hayden kept throwing them in the tornado,
and of course saying "oh, oh, oh"

Adrian got Leafs vs Jets tickets for his birthday from his dad! Of course he asked me to be his hot date, there was no way I was saying no to this! :) My parents babysat Hayden, and off we went!

Adrian and I <3

GO LEAFS GO!!!!

After the game we went downstairs ( a huge thank you to Marlene Riemer for hooking us up)  to go and meet one of Adrian's friends that he grew up with who happens to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs. This was a big deal to me and also a dream come true. I have been a leaf fan since I was  born ( alot of brainwashing from parents!), so for me to go downstairs where all the leaf players walk out and have thier interviews so exciting but so nerve wracking at the same time! When we got down there we waited for Adrian's buddy and I was looking out of the door in the room where we were, I saw Dion Phauneff, Bozak, Macarther, and Francis!! I didn't even talk to them, just seeing them was SO exciting! Thanks Adrian for choosing me to tag along with you! I love you! :)

A tradtion lives on...

Growing up my mom and dad always had a Saturday Night tradtion. Mom would make homemade pizza and we would gather downstairs, eat and watch Hockey Night in Canada!! It was ONE of the best childhood memories that I have! Mom still does it when we go there for the weekend!  I promised myself when I was a wee tyke, that I would do the same thing for my family! So, ever since we've been married we have been doing the same thing (if we are home). Now that we have Hayden the tradtion means so much too us, we hope to continue doing this for all children. I hope one day that all my children will do the same thing with thier families!

Some our toppings for our deluxe pizza!

Waiting for the pizza to be ready! DING, its ready!!

YUMMY!

Hayden enjoying his food! I don't let him eat tomatoes yet for the fear of him being allergic, so had brocolli, cheese, and bread! He enjoyed it!

PLAYTIME!! He put the blanket on and off his for like 5 mins, he thought it was the funniest thing!

Oh, happy day!

Today we accomplished alot! First we made a big breakfast that consisted of Oatmeal pancakes, eggs, bacon and toast! It was yummy, the pancakes though I don't think I will make again! :) Then we put  more of our light fixtures in ( we bought a house  and renovated and some those reno's are not done yet!), cleaned the house, finished the laundry, insulated the crawl space and did some of our grocery shopping for the week! I love it when Adrian doesn't work Saturdays, he helps so much around the house! :) Thanks love! After we were all done our Saturday chores, Adrian Hayden and I went outside and played!! It was so much fun I felt like a child again! This was Hayden's first time outside where he actually crawled around and played. Other times I brought him outside he would just sit there staring at me and it didn't last long, but today he played and it sounded and looked like he had fun! Below are some picures of our little family...

Hayden and I throwing the snow up in the air, he liked that lots!

Mommy and Hayden!

Hayden heard a dog barking, and was looking around trying to figure it out. Too cute!

Yes, this was a happy day! :)

The first snow fall in January where it actuallyh stayed! This is our front yard, we have these huge weeping willow trees in the front. Weeping willows happen to be my favorite trees! It all started when I saw Pocohantas as a kid! They are beautiful, and so peaceful when they sway in the wind. I cannot wait for summer to have picnics in the front yard with Hayden under the willows. I have such summer fever today! Please hurry!

ADRIAN WON A POCKET CROTCH ROCKET!

In January Adrian went to a trade show in Saskatchwan! At the trade show there is a bunch of free draws (Adrian enters every draw that he can, last year he won a GPS!). This year Adrian entered his name in a draw to win a Pocket Crotch Rocket! And he won!!! He is so pumped for summer! :) Here are some pictures of his new toy!

Hayden loves it! Adrian put it on his toy mat for a couple of days and he played with it for hours!

Hayden having his turn on the bike!

Oh, how this summer shall be a fun one!

Hayden and mommy!
This was taken on his first Thanksgiving!
