Yard Ideas!

Adrian decided that instead of hiring someone he is going to be doing the Parging and building th deck himself! I am super proud of him! So far we have started the prepping for the parging, but we cannot do the actual parging until it gets warmer outside! In case you don't know, it is the the cement/stucco that covers up the bottom of the house. Adrian can probably explain it way better, I don't know how to explain it, here is a picture from google:

Make sense?

Anyways, like I mentioned before we are also building our deck! Honestly I am so excited for that! I cannot wait to have an outdoor living area! I found this picture on Pinterest, and the size of this deck is very simliar to what ours will be:

deck arrangment.

It will be in the back of our house, and there will be stairs going down both ways that way you get to our backyard and our front yard. From our driveway we will have a path leading to those stairs, becasue that will be our main entrance! Make sense? It is kinda hard to explain without pictures! For the trail to the deck we had a couple of ideas:

walkway

This will be the trail going from our driveway to our main entrance. And the trail that will be leading from other steps will be going to the front yard. And this an idea for the other trail, since it won't be used as much as the stone one, we want one that looks kinda rustic and outdoorsy, and not so manicured.

recycled pallet boards for walkway

It is made out of wood pallets! And Adrian sells wood pallets at work for only $5! You could also make a foot bridge out of wood pallets, which I would also like too do for our ditch!
And here are a couple ideas for the railing on the deck:

can't decide which one! So many choices!

railing for the deck?

Sorry the pictures are small, but if I make them bigger then they look stretched out!

For our front yard, we will be planting grass, and around the evergreens we will be puttin this red mulch down.

This is the look we will be going for, ignore the bricks, there is no bricks. The mulch will be flushed with the ground.

I do not know what too do around the evergreen trees, do we just plant grass around them, or should we do some tilling around them and make some sorta of natural edging around them.

Maybe do something like this, or just grass?
The willow trees are really big and fully grown in, so I am not sure if a manicured edging like this would look good, or would a natural grass look, look better? We will need my dad's expertise for this! He is the KING of landscaping!

For the front of the house we wanna do a front flower/scrub garden. We are also putting stairs in the front as well, although we will not be using that as an entrance. Fire code saids you need stairs there, and it will look nice too. We cannot decide if we will use the cement stairs that came with the house, or if Adrian should build stairs and a nice landing, kinda like a mini deck. But, again that will not be decided until the parging is done. So, for the front we wanna make the flower bed kinda curvy, and not totally aganist the house , here are some of our ideas:

so many choices!

front of the house?

Not totally sure what we will be doing yet, but this might only come next year, because I think you need to wait for the grass to come in, not totally sure, that will be another question for my dad!
It is alot of work, but honestly it is SO much fun (well, so far it is). I cannot wait to see the finished product, and I will also keep you posted!

Right now my currant project for our yard is this:

House # flower pots

I would like to make this for the deck! Hopefully it turns out good!

I also would like Adrian to build this for the back of the shed:

Wonder where I can get wood pallets here in the Interlake, I would love this behind my shed!

It is made out of wood pallets, and looks pretty easy! Maybe I can even build it myself! HA!
If you’re not one for planning ahead, here’s how to bring flowering bulbs into your home right now.

And this would be a nice center piece for our outdoor table!

My uncle Bernie and Auntie Joanne blessed us with thier old patio furniture! Such a blessing, saves us money! Right now it has blue pillows but I found a tutorial on Pintrest on how to make covers for your patio cushions!

Some of my fabric ideas:

color scheme:: Outdoow cushions?

Dahlia:: Outdoor cushions, I like the dark, hides dirt better!

outdoor cushions?

Outdoor cushions.

Will have too see what Adrian likes and take it from there!

Anyways, I think I am done showing our ideas, and getting our thoughts and ideas organized!
Should be a FUN and BUSY summer! I cannot wait!
